The Mother Circle
Motherhood was never meant to be done alone.
A gentle, psychotherapy-led space for mothers and their pre-crawling babies.
The Mother Circle was created to offer mothers a place to pause, connect, reflect and feel supported through the transition into motherhood. Because when mothers feel supported, families flourish.
What is The Mother Circle?
Aspace for you, as well as your baby.
Becoming a mother can bring enormous change — to your identity, your relationships, your body, your emotions and the way you see yourself.
Yet so much of the focus after birth is understandably on the baby. Mothers can find themselves surrounded by advice about feeding, sleeping and development, while quietly wondering, “But what about me?”
The Mother Circle is a weekly space where there is room for both. It isn't a baby class, and there is no expectation that you arrive feeling a particular way. It's a gentle, psychotherapy-led space to connect with other mothers, explore some of the emotional and psychological changes that can come with motherhood, and have somewhere to simply be — exactly as you are.
Each Circle will centre around a different theme connected to the experience of becoming and being a mother. We might explore matrescence and identity, hormones and emotions, relationships after having a baby, loneliness and connection, body image, the invisible load of motherhood, self-compassion, expectations versus reality, and the many other changes that can accompany becoming a mother.
I’ll gently introduce the week's topic, with space to reflect, listen and share whatever it might bring up for you. There is never any pressure to speak — sometimes simply listening and being alongside other mothers is enough.
Each week stands on its own, so there is no need to attend every session. Simply come to the Circles that work for you.
What to expect
Each Mother Circle will last approximately 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to arrive, settle your baby, make a cup of tea or coffee and simply land for a little while.
We’ll begin with a gentle neck and shoulder stretch, followed by a simple check-in: “How are you arriving today?”
I’ll then introduce the theme for that week and we’ll make space for conversation, reflection and whatever comes up within the group. We’ll finish by asking: “What is one thing you’ll take with you this week?”
And throughout it all, your baby gets to be a baby.
Feed when you need to. Change a nappy. Stand up and walk around. Soothe your baby, step into another room for a few minutes, or simply sit and listen. There is no expectation for your baby to be quiet or settled, and no need to apologise if they aren’t.
Bring yourself. Bring your baby. Bring the tears if you need to.
Tea, coffee and support will be provided.
